What is Sine Qua Non?
Sine Qua Non was a European think tank advocating for a coherent European foreign policy in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. Founded in Paris in 2018 by researchers and young professionals, it drew from diverse backgrounds and experiences from across the European continent and beyond.
The organisation was active from 2018 to 2021, during which time it produced analysis reports, policy briefs, op-eds, and two major case studies on EU foreign policy in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and in collaboration with Noria Research.

Sine Qua Non aspired to assess the effectiveness of the European foreign policy approach in the MENA region, and the coherence of this approach with the Union's proclaimed principles. The organisation conducted case studies for particular areas of concern involving EU engagement where both a sense of urgency and systematic human rights considerations were present.
